Our History

From Lab Innovation to Global Impact.

Guided by a commitment to diagnostics, measurement, and mission-critical data, we foster relationships with research institutions, defense agencies, and industrial leaders. Our work is supported by ongoing DOE SBIR awards and global installations that keep pushing the frontier of measurement precision.

Roots in Laser Diagnostics

Sydor Technologies was founded in 2004 in Rochester, NY, emerging from a pivotal technology transfer from the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics (LLE). Our startup journey began by commercializing ROSS imaging technology, bringing a university’s breakthrough into real-world diagonistic applications.

Expansion of Manufacturing

Just three years later, in June 2007, we relocated manufacturing operations to a larger facility in Chili, New York, laying the groundwork for greater capacity and precision in production.

Growth in Ballistics & Imaging

Sydor quickly broadened its capabilities beyond streak cameras and X ray systems, entering defense-grade ballistics testing. This strategic expansion allowed us to serve customers in energy, research, security, and defense with advanced diagnostics and impact testing systems.

Technical Leadership & Strategic Growth

Over the years, we’ve maintained a strong collaborative partnership model, licensing breakthrough optics technology at inception, then growing through strategic additions like manufacturing and ballistic range integrations. Recent growth includes the integration of Sabre Ballistics into Sydor Technologies, expanding our capabilities to deliver fully integrated ballistic test equipment and solutions in the U.S. and beyond.

Global Reach & Recognition

Today, Sydor Technologies is headquartered in Fairport, NY, and operates in over 33 countries, reflecting our successful global deployment of ultrafast diagnostic solutions. We’ve earned placement on the Inc. 5000 list multiple times (2010, 2011, 2016, 2018), a testament to our consistent revenue growth and innovation.
