Sydor Instruments Strengthens Focus on Aerospace and Defense with New Capabilities and Staff

Daniel Rao Joins Sydor Instruments

ROCHESTER, N.Y., November 21, 2009 – Sydor Instruments addresses increased demand from DoD customers for more comprehensive MASINT (Measurement And Signature Intelligence) technology with the appointment of Daniel Rao as Account Executive: Aerospace & Defense. Rao will lead the introduction of new product capabilities designed for military applications.

Sydor Instruments’ President, Michael Pavia, says, “Our custom streak cameras are being installed in mission-critical scenarios, where combining UV-VIS-IR and time domain yields unprecedented results. Originally developed for use in DOE nuclear research programs, our defense customers need similar systems that can analyze data in a more comprehensive way, with unique imaging capabilities. In addition, these cameras optically augment homeland security applications, so we are dedicating research and staff to serving this growing market.”

Rao will lead aerospace and defense business development, with more than 14 years of experience working to identify solutions for government communications. He has a solid record of achievement and demonstrated success driving multimillion-dollar program growth, while providing award-winning sales leadership in highly competitive technical markets. His diverse professional experience includes program management, product development, and sales management.
Prior to joining Sydor Instruments, Rao was a Business Development Manager at Harris Corporation’s RF Communications Division where he spearheaded an entrepreneurial team focused on expanding the division’s product portfolio outside its traditional markets. Rao also served as the Director of Business Development at Phoenix Systems Corporation, a wireless communications equipment and services provider, and was instrumental in developing and implementing business strategy, growing company sales in commercial and government industries.

Rao has a BS in Environmental Science from SUNY College at Brockport, and holds numerous certifications and awards for sales excellence.
