ROCHESTER, N.Y.

Sydor Instruments, LLC has been awarded “Most Innovative Business Model” at the recent UNYTECH05 – Universities of Upstate New York Venture Forum – held in Buffalo, New York. Start-up technology companies, grown from discoveries and innovations within the college and university systems, presented their business model and investment pitch to group of close to 200 venture capitalist, private investors, and service providers.

Michael Pavia, president of Sydor Instruments, presented his company’s plans to develop a series of high-speed photonics measurement systems which enable researchers to make advances in such fields as energy research, molecular imaging, optical communications, and microlithography.

Sydor Instruments’ first product, the ROSS (Rochester Optical Streak System) streak camera was developed from technology under an exclusive license from the University of Rochester Laboratory for Laser Energetics. It has been hailed by researchers as a major advancement in high-speed optical measurements.

Sydor Instruments commercializes novel measurement technology that enables researchers to make dramatic advances in a variety of advanced technologies. Its products enable researchers to accelerate discovery as their need for faster, more precise data expands beyond the capability of current instrumentation. Sydor also offers customized systems, which are designed around its customers’ specific requirements.
