Michael Pavia is responsible for understanding the needs of key markets, and providing strategic direction for the growth of Sydor Technologies. Over the years, he has grown the company into a leader in high-performance imaging, diagnostics, and measurement systems for government agencies around the world.
Michael encourages his staff to work smarter (not harder). He surrounds himself with smart, talented people—and provides them with a creative environment to solve mission-critical problems and empowers them to drive success. Consequently, the company has been featured as one of fastest growing companies in the Rochester (NY) Top-100, and in the top 25% of Inc. Magazine’s 5000 fastest-growing companies nationwide.
In his role of developing the growth of Sydor Technologies, Michael is also responsible for guiding the disciplined, targeted acquisition strategy that aims to minimize risk, yet foster innovation to reach new customers around the globe— and better serve existing ones.
Michael is a global business and technology executive with over 25 years experience in photonics and imaging. Prior to founding Sydor Technologies, Michael held key positions in laser fusion systems, semiconductor capital equipment, and satellite remote sensing systems. In a senior role at Eastman Kodak Company, he was responsible for launching products on a global basis as the worldwide marketing manager of a $1.5B strategic product group. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester.
Vice President of Sales
Chuck leads the global sales and service efforts of Sydor Technologies, with proven success drawn from his experience with entrepreneurial start-ups and global sales and service for large corporations. His industry experience includes complex technical sales and business development in the areas of metrology, process controls, optics, power generation, software, and automation.
Driven by a RESULTS philosophy taught early in his career, Chuck applies all of Sydor Technologies’ unique and creative capabilities to servicing customers. His global team focuses on delivering customized product solutions, process optimizations, utilizing tech transfers, and developing roadmaps integral to our customers’ future requirements.
Chuck has developed his global outlook with experience from QED Technologies, Zygo, and Measurex Corporation. Chuck holds a BSME from the West Virginia Institute of Technology and holds a U.S. Patent for Interferometric Microscopy.
Vice President of Finance & Administration
Elsa leads the finance and administrative efforts for Sydor Technologies, with over twenty years of experience in financial leadership positions in dynamic, high growth companies. Her industry experience includes both large technology companies as well as smaller, more entrepreneurial organizations.
Elsa has responsibilities for both the US and international operating units that include strategic planning, mergers & acquisitions, accounting, process improvements, managing the annual operating planning process and human resource management.
Elsa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University and an Advanced Sustainability Certificate from the University of Vermont.
Vice President of US Operations
Mark Katafiaz leads various teams with exceptional expertise gained from over twenty-five years of managing research, development and engineering operations for technology companies.
In addition to overall management, Mark directs the Production, Engineering, Proposal and Contract Management, Quality Control Systems, and Export Compliance departments. Prior to joining Sydor Technologies, Mark managed operations for Dimension Technologies Inc. and General Electric Consulting Services.
Mark’s expertise includes providing outstanding coordination of services and support to ensure complete system integrity and performance at our clients’ locations. He also ensures that our engineering services and custom imaging systems are designed to precise specifications—and delivered on time.
Vice President of UK Operations
Glenn Hopkinson draws upon his vast experience as a successful leader in sales, marketing, and operations.
Glenn truly has global perspective and global expertise: he has successfully developed and conducted business in over 90 countries—either personally, or via the many effective sales teams that he has created. His vast experience also spans various industries, as he has been involved in the aerospace; defense; electronics and IT; engineering; marine; oil and gas; security; and steel industries.
Glenn holds a B.A. with honors in Business Studies from Kingston University and an MBA (with specialization in international strategic alliances) from Kingston Business School (London) and he has successfully led both an MBO and a company flotation (changing from a private company into a public company).
